Weekly progress
This is my progress every week
Week 1 :
We started learning about the media ecology : how technology affects the media and how the media affect the users. We also started making the group and the research for the project music video. The problem this week is its hard for me and my group to choose what genre for the music video is the solution for this solution is we decides to do voting and the majority of the group member choses pop music. My goal by the end of the week is to finish at least 2 research , also we started making out preliminary research
Week 2 :
On week 2 we continue making our research and we also started learning about the 4 different convergence in the media , which is technological , textual , social , industry . The problems on week 2 is our group member rarely attend the media class , which makes it hard for us to discuss for the planning of the music video . The solution is we use Whatsapp to communicate with him so that the planning kept going even though one of the member does not attend the class
week 3
On week 3 we started learning about the media ecology , this is about ho technology could effect the media , and for the project we continue onn making our research about the pop music video , this could help me to know what convention should I conform to when making my music video .
week 4
This week, we started on the storyboard and statement of intent. This week, I was not able to attend school for more than 2 days because I had a sports competition. Most of the statements of intent were made by my other teammates without consulting me. However, my teammates knew what I am capable of (storyboarding) and so they gave me that role and one additional role (moodboard), which I am not familiar with, but I'll try.
The problem we had this week was due to the overwhelming schedule outside media studies; I was not able to storyboard during this week.
The solution we had was to delay the storyboard and do the other unfinished task for Comp 3.
My goal for this week is to try to help my teammates even though I am not available most of the time.
week 5
This week, we began doing another task, the location scout and risk assessment. These tasks were very easy for us to complete as they required less work than the other tasks. The difficulty was deciding which location we were going to shoot, but we managed to come up with interesting places.
The problem we had this week was that I was not finished with the storyboard and the moodboard.
The solution was that one of the group members tried assisting me, which proved to be very helpful and effective as we finished half of the plan.
My goal for this week is to finish the moodboard and the storyboard.
Week 6
This was our final week to finish everything before finishing semester 1 of our academic year. Our teacher gave us chances to do our Comp 3 during the media studies period for this week. Thanks to our kind teacher's decision, all the tasks were accomplished. However, we did miss out on 1 task, which was the classwork about media theories.
The problem we had this week was that we didn't have a proper schedule, so we missed one task.
The solution we had was to do the task during the weekends and do double checks in our blog post in case we missed other things.
My goal for this week is to make sure all my group members have the proper format for their blog posts.
Reflection : There is so many things we learn for the past few weeks , this helps me to understand more about the theory and the project lessons help me to know what to start for the music video , eventhough it is hard for me and my group to choose a song , but we actually find a song that we thinng we could make a good job making a music video for.
TERM 3
Week 1
This week, we had to submit our Behind the Scenes post and our filming schedule. We finished planning , but we did not follow our schedule well and kept delaying the filming. Because of this , we had to quickly make a new plan to finish filming next week so the editor can complete the music video on time. We also learned about Richard Dyer’s Theory of Stardom. I learned that becoming a star is not by chance. The media industry carefully plans how a star looks and acts, and the audience also helps build this image. The theory talks about success , being ordinary , selling products , love life , and downfall.
Week 2
This week, we learned about Post-Colonialism Theory by Paul Gilroy. This theory says that even though colonialism happened in the past, its effects are still seen in media today. Western countries still show their culture as more powerful through media, almost like hidden propaganda. This theory mostly fits countries that were once colonized. For our project, our filming did not go well because we did not follow the schedule again. Now , we may need to film during the holiday to catch up.
Week 3
This week, we learned about Henry Jenkins’ Theory of Fandom. It explains how fans are very active. Fans create their own meanings from what they watch, talk about it in their own way, and even make their own fan content. For our project , we finished all filming in one day . Our first version of the music video got many good comments, but some people said the lighting and effects were uncomfortable to watch. Because of this , we might need to reshoot a few scenes.
Week 4
This week was project week, so we did not have normal media lessons. This was helpful because we could focus on our project and have more time to do our project , since the submission is close . We also asked Mr Nick for feedback, which helped us improve our music video before the final submission. The only problem was that I did not finish my digipak research, so I will do it on the weekend.
reflection : on this four weeks Mr Nick does not give us time in class to do the weekly progress in the end of the week , as it could save more time , however this cause me to procrastinate on making the weekly progress , which force me to make all the weekly progress near the submission date.

Behind The Scenes
this is the behind the scene of the shooting for media project
Critical Reflection
In the Project Documentary , we are asked to make an opening of a crime documentary with the duration of 3 - 5 minutes. Me and my group decided to make a crime documentary about a stalking case , which also involves kidnapping .
Branding is important for media text , so people could recognise the media text that we made. We created our own thumbnail , the purpose of the thumbnail is to make the audience click on our documentary , so we have to make it as engaging as possible. From the thumbnail (fig 1.1)shown audience could know that this is a stalker crime documentary from how there so many picture of an innocent person , which is the victim , also the victim’s face are not shown in every photo in the thumbnail , this is to give hermeneutic code and to make the audience curious . The letter “O” in the word Fixation we change it to a target , to show the audience that she is targeted by someone. The lighting of the thumbnail was shown in dark or low lighting , which creates a meaning that something bad is happening ,and to make the audience know that it is a crime documentary. Our target audience are young adults or teenagers , in the age group of 16 - 25 years old, they are targeted by , first the actors in our documentary are teenagers , so people that are teenagers and young adults could relate to the documentary video we made . So this would make them enjoy watching the documentary , since they are seeing the character have the same age as them. Another way that teenagers and young adults are targeted is from the content of our documentary. Our documentary involves relationships , since young adults mostly relate to romance , relationship . So this might make them interested with our documentary video , also the victims were shown broken hearted which could relate with most young adults this relates to the theory of . We also use different mise en scenes , such as the room of the victim , would relate with most teenagers and the clothing is the clothes used by young adults conventionally or the trend in the young adults clothing.
In our documentary, there are more than one social group represented, such as the victim (of stalking) and the victim (of kidnapping) , Detective , and the stalker/kidnapper. We represent the social groups to align with the reception theory , where we want the audience encode meaning same as our dominant reading . The victim is represented as a teenager that is innocent and traumatized with what had happened to her, this is shown from how she acted at the interview, she looks scared and full of anxiety. From the interviews the detectives were shown tidy and professional. It is seen from the clothing and it is shown that he shows sympathy towards the victim. The stalker was shown mysterious and covered with all black clothing , this creates a meaning that he is a bad guy. Also from the voice mail sent by the stalker it already shows how obsessed the stalker is towards the victim , until he desperately wanted to hear the victim's voice and how his jealousy overcame himself , when he knows that the victim have a boyfriend , until he had to commit a bigger crime , which is kidnapping the boyfriend.
